Frequently Asked Questions

  • Yes. Most Vyver guitars are built as custom commissions, shaped around the individual player. I also occasionally build workshop instruments when time allows, which are released once they’re finished.

Occasionally I will stock pre-made ‘off the shelf’ guitars that are available for purchase immediately. Keep checking the site for updates.

  • It starts with a conversation. We’ll talk through what you’re looking for in terms of feel, sound, and aesthetics, and I’ll help guide the specification where needed.

Once the details are agreed, a deposit secures your place in the build schedule. I’ll then confirm timings and keep you updated as your guitar progresses through the workshop.

  • Lead times vary depending on workload and the complexity of the build, but most commissions are completed within 2–3 months.

I prioritise realistic timelines and calm workflows over rushing builds through the shop.

  • Pricing depends on materials, hardware, finishing, and the level of customisation involved.

    As a guide:

    • Commissions typically start from £1,500

    • A detailed quote is provided before any commitment is required

There are no surprise costs — everything is agreed upfront.

  • Yes. Most aspects of the build can be specified, including:

    • Body and neck woods

    • Scale length and neck profile

    • Pickups and electronics

    • Hardware and finish style

If you’re unsure about any choices, I’m happy to advise based on experience and how you play.

  • Not at all. Many people who commission a Vyver guitar come to the process knowing how they want a guitar to feel and sound, but not the technical terminology — and that’s completely fine.

You don’t need to know about woods, neck profiles, or electronics. My role is to guide those decisions and translate what you’re looking for into a guitar that works for you

  • Vyver guitars are:

    • Personalised — not one-size-fits-all

    • Hand-made— with careful attention to detail. No robots or automation involved.

    • Built for playability first — ergonomics and feel matter

    • Highly customisable — from woods to electronics

    • Made in small numbers — quality over quantity

If you’re after an instrument that feels like an extension of your hands and musical intent, a custom approach like this delivers something distinct from factory models.

  • I stand behind the workmanship of each instrument. If there’s a genuine issue related to build quality, I’m happy to discuss aftercare support.

If, for any reason, you’re not happy once you’ve spent some time with it, you may return the guitar within one month of receipt. This gives you the chance to properly live with the instrument and be sure it’s right for you.

Returned guitars must be in their original delivered condition. Once received and inspected, a refund will be issued in line with the agreed terms.

My aim is always to build guitars that players genuinely connect with, and I want you to feel comfortable and confident throughout the process.
